Rehoboth 375th Timeline Event – September 22nd

On September 22nd, the 13th Continental Regiment will be hosting a historic timeline encampment from 10AM-4PM as a part of Rehoboth’s 375th Anniversary.

There, you can travel back in time to meet folks representing the time of King Philip’s War, the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, and more! There will even be a Civil War era brass band, the Providence Brigade Band, providing entertainment.

Our family has been to other events that the 13th Continental Regiment has been at and has always enjoyed mixing and mingling with them, learning about history while spending time together outside. This event promises to be even bigger and better than those!

Massachusetts Outdoor Expo – September 23rd

On September 23rd, the 21st Big Moe (Massachusetts Outdoor Expo) will take place in Sturbridge, MA from 9AM-3PM.

This is one of our family’s favorite annual events — a free, family-friendly day designed to introduce young and old to wildlife and the outdoors. The Big MOE offers a variety of skills stations, craft tables, and other exhibits to encourage you to try new outdoor skills and activities such as fishing, archery, kayaking, shooting, building a bird box, geocaching, mountain biking, nature, arts, and crafts. You can also visit a primitive encampment, peek at live animals, try disc golfing, and more!

Parking, shuttle, and skill events are all free. You may wish to bring cash for raffles or food.

Fort Phoenix Fall Encampment – September 29th-30th

The Fairhaven Village Militia will be hosting its annual encampment at historic Fort Phoenix from September 29th at 9AM through September 30th at 3PM.

There, you will be able to join reenactors in period costume presenting life in the 1770’s. Throughout the event, you can view military drilling, flintlock musket and canon firing demonstrations, cooking demonstrations, and more. You can also try tomahawk throwing and children’s games, plus enjoy seeing artisans such as tinsmiths and leather workers.

There is ample free parking and a beach at the Fort to walk along, too. There will also be a firing of the fort’s five large canons on Saturday at approximately 6:30PM.

For a relatively small event, this encampment always offers big fun and learning.
